WHY BERRY FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE?
Friends, are you a brunch person? Ok I’m. I like getting up slowly on a Saturday morning, drinking pajamas, sleeping on pajamas, enjoying rich breakfasts and lunches … ah, you should have a fun and slow weekend.
French bread is on the late breakfast list for the weekend from time to time. I would wake up in the morning, cut the bread, then dip it in the egg mixture, then fried the bread.
That is, until I got to know the concept of French roasted casserole. Then everything happened – late weekend lunches got better …
See, with a French toast oven dish, you can do everything the night before, soak the bread in the egg mixture, add cinnamon powder, brown sugar and vanilla extract, then put it in the oven and viola the next morning. Breakfast service.
In the summer, all fresh berries activities are ongoing, and it would be a shame if the custard bread and the freshly baked sweet-like berries were not on top. Delicious foods fit nicely with it.
So, I went – roasted French berry tagine. The best French oven casserole with berries. The meaning of puns.
HOW TO MAKE BERRY FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE?
As mentioned earlier, a lot of actual work was done the night before. We cut French bread into small cubes and stuff the bread in about 3/4 of a 9 x 13 inch casserole. You can use other breads, such as plain white bread, brioche, croissants, etc.
Next, in a large mixing bowl, mix 8 large eggs (yes, many eggs!), 2% milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar. Then pour the mixture into a saucepan.
Slices of strawberries, blueberries or other berries you love on top!
Cover with casserole and put in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight. During this time, we allow the bread to absorb the egg mixture.
Then (I usually wear sleepwear the next morning) bake in 350 for 35-40 minutes. I check the 35-minute mark and bake for longer if necessary.
Sprinkle powdered sugar with sugar powder. Basic life fun.
I mean. Talk about starting your day.
After soaking the bread in the egg mixture, the taste becomes moist again. The edges and the top part are a little crunchy. Sweet juicy berries are an excellent addition to custard dishes. Very delicious.
This thing will feed a group of people, otherwise you will have a lot of leftovers. Not a bad deal at all.
In my worst opinion, the best way to present this flavor is to top maple syrup (especially good sugar!). Maybe paired with a few bits of bacon.
CAN I USE FROZEN BERRIES
Yes, if there are no fresh berries, please use frozen berries instead of fresh berries.
HOW TO STORE BERRY FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE
Put it in the refrigerator in a closed container for a few days. Store the maple syrup separately. When ready to eat, they can be heated in the microwave and eaten with maple syrup.
